Now just make it many times worse. A real nightmare from which you wake up in tears and a cold sweat!
Imagine, if you will, of a majestic cathedral of light, high on a hill. Shining in all of its splendor. All the city's lights pale in comparison. The shining icon of your great city!
You and your family wonder toward this beautiful building in wonder and hope.
Then the schoolyard bully, like that kid who loves to kick sand into your face at the town beach, blocks your way and says that you are too poor and not worthy to enter. Go away and never come back. This is for boys and girls like us and not for kids like you!
This happened to me in a dream a long time ago.
If you cannot go into the cathedral of your dreams, why not make it and wear it as a necklace?
Constructed of found materials retrieved from ash bins here and there as well as Goodwill and Salvation Army shelves; this majestic cathedral of light is worn as a necklace during many functions that I go to here in Portland.
Where are those bullies who prevented me from entering this building?
I don't know.
But I do know that this beautiful majestic building is safely resting upon my breast and shining bright to the entire world!
The walkway is brushed clean and the mighty doors are open wide! You are all welcome into my heart!
