Upholstery and drapery fabrics offer to me a rich palette of colors and textures that are not available in most men's clothing fabrics.
Even though this garment took me less than a day to make, it still offers a pleasent distinction from commercially available clothing.
By making my own unique clothing out of very durable materials and using double seams, I know that what I make and wear will last for years. By not following that latest fashion 'trends', I am not under pressure to buy the latest just to keep up with everyone else. This is an article in Slate about our insatable appitite for new clothing and what happenss because of it. I hope that what I am doing for my own clothing does not contribute to this problem.
