The metalwork is constructed of 100 percent scrap steel that I found on the road while riding my bicycle to and from work here in the Portland, Oregon area.
One of the best places to find this kind of scrap steel is on the shoulder of Oregon Route 26. That place can feel like a museum! Especially the portion approaching the West portal of the Vista Tunnel in Portland.
All of the shades are created using leftover fabrics from earlier sewing projects.
The hoops supporting the shades are crafted from bicycle chain that was TIG welded link my link so that it is rigid.
It is my tradition to seek gifts from my own hand and heart for the holidays and not something in the mall or on-line.
