Lighting is art as well as utility. Here is my contribution to the art of utilitarian lighting for the home of a family member to whom I gifted this for Christmas.
The bicycle chain for this lamp shade holder is tig welded together so that it is rigid. Each link is carefully welded to the adjacent links in a way so that it is not noticeable.
The use of tig welding gives me such fine control that I can create welds small enough so that they are nearly invisible; creating a cleanly assembled steel sculpture.
All of the metal pieces used in this lamp were found pices from the shoulder of the streets of the Portland and Beaverton, Oregon area.
